Great Lakes Aikido April Workshops

Howdy all, 

Mark your calendars! The following April workshops will take place at Great Lakes Aikido, 158 N Fairway Dr Ste 156, Vernon Hills, IL and they are open to anyone interested, regardless of affiliation or level of training. For GLA members, these are essentially extended or specialized classes for no additional cost. For visitors, we do ask that you pay a modest mat fee of $25 to help cover costs; however, if finances are an issue, please don’t let that stop you from attending.

1. Practical Application Workshop: Kyusho – Striking Pressure Points
Saturday, April 18th
9:30-11:30am
This workshop will cover the application of pressure and striking against vital points to enhance various aspects of martial technique, including atemi, controlling, and immobilization of an opponent. 2. Weapons Workshop: Jo Dori & Jo Nage
Saturday, April 25th
9:30-11:30am
At this workshop we will focus on formal technique with the jo (wooden staff), with an emphasis on jo dori – disarming someone who is attacking you with a jo – and jo nage – using a jo to throw or pin an opponent.
